Stand up, light up tree card for Studio Light

This piece is made using just one embossing folder (with cut out die insert) from the Autumn collection by StudioLight. I've inked the inside of the embossing folder using Brilliance ink in Lightning Black, and run this through with a piece torn from a watercolour sketch pad. The folder then embossed in a letterpress style, with the die insert cutting out the leaves. I placed this on top of my torn cardboard packaging, pierced the leaves to give me an idea of placement, and cut out sections with a craft knife. Next, I mounted the tree piece on a thin card frame on top of the torn cardboard. I mounted the whole lot on some foamcore board (I cut an aperture in the back) then placed my LED lights to show through). I then placed the left-over piece of foamcore back over the aperture, taping down with brown gummed paper tape (which is incredibly strong). How to cover a papier mache book box

I had a very boring Kraft papier mache book box that I keep my unmounted alphabet stamps in. It's so boring, I decided to do something with it! Then I thought it might be a good idea to share.... Boring plain Kraft papier mache box I prepped the box inside and out with burgundy acrylic paint. I lined it with Khadi paper (heavily textured, handmade) in a strong pink which I overstamped with more burgundy paint and my toys: hand carved wooden blocks from Colouricious . Heavily textured Khadi handmade paper The paint was applied to the block with a sponge brush, and you can see the very simple repeat pattern: from the left, just stamped from top to bottom. 2nd from left, pattern dropped half a repeat down, 3rd from left starting at the top again, etc. Due to the heavy texture of the paper, the pattern didn't stamp perfectly - enhancing the handmade effect. News! I'm on the Blockwallah Design Team!

Sorry it's been ages since I last posted - due to a hand injury and now tendonitis. But I'm pretty much back in action again - and delighted to announce I'm on the Design Team for Blockwallah hand carved wood block stamps. Blockwallah I love these stamps as they have so much personality! You can really get a feeling of the person who carved them. And they aren't just for fabric: they work great on paper too! Yaaay me!
