NOT BLOG-HOPPING FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS

Sorry folks, I won't be doing any blog-hopping or Pink Saturday visits for the next few days.

We just had the very sad news, two hours ago, that my mother-in-law has just died: cancer. She was 84. The hospital says she died in her sleep, no pain, so that is indeed a blessing.

Peter is shell-shocked, understandably, as we live at the other end of the country. He's just gone out for a walk: needs to be on his own. I really don't know what to say to him to comfort him.

God bless you, Bernie, you'll be sadly missed.

  4. Susie -

Please offer Peter my condolences. It is very hard to lose a parent, especially one's mother. I pray that the wonderful memories he has of his mother help sustain him through this very sad time.

    Sincerely,

  10. I'm sorry to hear about your mother-in-law.
It is very hard to comfort someone in time of loss, and men grieve differently than we do.
We need to talk it out, and they usually quietly walk through it. Just be available if he needs you.

    Blessings and healing

  19. My deepest sympathies for your loss. Three years ago this month I lost my father to complications of cancer. I have changed in so many ways since his passing and I will never be the same. Remember the good times, rely on the comfort of friends, support your family in every way and be as strong as possible be during these fragile times. My heart goes out to you and yours.

Susie, so sorry for your loss. Please take care of your husband and yourself at this time. I know you always do too much so a quiet time to remember and console is perfectly appropriate. My sympathies.

  31. Thanks so much Sugarpie - I would have left a comment on one of your blogs, but couldn't find the comment box! Peter's getting through it, slowly - and bearing up very well, considering. I just walk on eggshells...
